Manufactured at the historic Kemnay Quarry near Inverurie, the Fyfestone product was introduced to offer an alternative to the now closed Kemnay granite quarry which was the source of many of the Granite Cities most iconic buildings.
Kemnay Quarry was opened in 1830 by John Fyfe, an Aberdonian, who forged a career in the quarrying and stone extraction business. Kemnay Granite features across the United Kingdom in structures such as the Thames Embankment, Cenotaph in London, Forth Bridge, Marischal College in Aberdeen and many more.
Now Fyfestone is the market leader in reconstituted granite products in the North of Scotland, highly desirable for residential and commercial developments. Often used as a base course below a roughast or render system, for gable end or porch stone work or for home extensions.
With a compressive strength of 25N/mm2, Fyfestone is a suitable facing material for any commercial, residential or civil engineering project, not only due to its strength but also its long term durability and requirement for minimal maintenance.
Alongside being available in a large number of colours, Fyfestone is also available double faced for applications such as boundary walls.
To view first hand the colours and texture of Fyfestone, you can visit any GPH Builders Merchant branch to view these products within our outdoor garden and walling displays.
